FAQ
You've got questions? We've got answers! Here are some of our most commonly asked questions - take a peek and you might just find what you're looking for. If you don't see the answer to your question below, shoot us an email at [email protected] or call or text us at 322-484-8382 and we would be happy to point you in the right direction.
Where are you located?
We are located in the Toluca Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Our address is 10552 Riverside Drive, Toluca Lake, CA 91602. Our office is on the second floor - just take the outdoor staircase up to the second level off of Riverside Drive (just above Aeirloom and Catcher in the Rye) and you will see our door at the top of the stairs. We also offer remote services and classes for our out-of-town actors!
Where should I park?
There is a small parking lot behind the building that you are welcome to park in if spaces are available. If the lot is full, street parking is available on the neighboring streets.
How do I book an appointment?
All of our bookings are done directly through our website, so you’re already in the right place! Head on over to our booking page to get started! Bookings are accepted up until 2 hours before your appointment begins and appointments are able to be cancelled or rescheduled up to 12 hours in advance.
I really need a coaching or tape appointment and there isn’t any availability on the website! What should I do?
Shoot us an email! We’re always happy to check and see if our coaches have any flexibility in their schedules, or if there’s a last minute cancellation that allows us to squeeze you in. When you reach out, let us know how long you would like to book (30 minutes or an hour?) what type of appointment you’re looking for (coaching only? taping only? coach + tape together?) and if you need a remote appointment or in-person. If you’re on a tight deadline and you see an open appointment on our booking page that could work for you in a pinch (even if it isn't ideal) we recommend booking it ASAP as spots have a tendency to fill up quickly. You can always email us after you book to see about a reschedule, but that way you won’t lose your spot if we don’t happen to have any additional availability! Please note: appointments that begin before 8am or end after 6pm may be subject to an additional after hours fee.
I saw open appointments on your website, and now they're gone! What happened?
The appointment you were looking for may have been booked by another client, or it's possible that you were trying to book too close to the appointment start time. Our scheduling system prevents new appointments from being booked less than two hours in advance, so if you were looking for a last minute spot and it suddenly disappeared, it might be because you crossed the two hour threshold! Feel free to reach out and we'd be happy to see if we can work some magic :-)
I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment! How do I do that?
Plans change - we get it! We allow cancellations for a full refund or reschedules up until 12 hours before your appointment begins. You can cancel or reschedule right from your confirmation email using the button that says “change/cancel.”

I need new footage for my casting profiles. Can you help me with that?
Yes!! We help actors shoot new material all the time. If you need help finding material, we offer a custom script writing service where we can write two scripts specifically for YOU! Or, if you already have material you'd like to work on, you can book a standard Self Tape + Coaching and we will take it from there!
Can you tell me more about your Adult and Teen acting classes?
Our acting classes meet once per week and cover all different aspects of the business including improv, audition technique, script analysis, on-camera work, and more. We challenge our students each week to become confident, prepared and successful actors, focusing on the joy of acting, developing characters, making bold choices, understanding professional expectations in the industry, and celebrating what makes each actor truly unique! Teen Class meets in-person on Sunday afternoons at 1pm PT and is open to young actors starting at age 13. Adult Classes meet in-person on Sunday, Monday, or Wednesday evenings at 6pm PT, and remotely on Tuesday evenings at 6pm PT. Want to know more about what we cover in class and how classes are structured? Check out our Class Policies and FAQ!
Do you allow class audits?
We don't allow audits in the traditional sense, but we do offer a one time pop-in class for $70 where you fully participate in the night - no lurking in the background! :-) After your pop-in, if you decide to continue class for the rest of the month, your $70 will go towards your monthly class tuition ($280 for a single month or $240/month for a recurring class series). If you'd like to try out a pop-in class, send us an email and let us know which class you'd like to try and we'll see where we can fit you in!
I have to miss a class. What should I do?
If you're enrolled in our teen or adult group classes and you know ahead of time that you'll be absent, please shoot us an email and let us know! We spend a lot of time prepping material that is just right for you, so it helps us to know in advance if your plans have changed.
Adults: If you need to miss a class, you are welcome to hop in another adult intensive night that month to make up for your absence! Usually the content is the same Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so if you can do your make-up during the same week as your missed class, that's your best option! However you're welcome to stack your classes and go multiple times during one week if that is more helpful to you. In order to be eligible for a makeup class, you must notify us of your absence via email at least two hours before your class is scheduled to start and sign up for a makeup class using the Current Students page on the website. Makeup spots are not guaranteed for each class night and are subject to availability. Makeup classes don't carry over from month to month and must be booked during the same month as your missed class.
Teens: If you miss a class, you can receive a free self-tape credit that you can use any time that same month! Free self tape credits do not carry over from month-to-month. If you don't often have self tape requests from representation, we recommend scheduling your self tape session anyway and using a scene from class for audition practice! Self-tape makeup credits are limited to ONE credit per month, even if you miss more than one class. To receive a makeup tape credit, you must notify us of your absence at least two hours before your class is scheduled to start.
Do you offer a kid's class or kid's lessons?
For kids 12 and under, we offer One-On-One lessons, which we find is the best way to minimize distractions and accelerate their growth as young artists. A One-On-One lesson is a private class where one of our teachers will build curriculum specifically for your child to help them learn and grow in their work as an actor, and prepare them for the professional worlds of auditions & callbacks in an age-appropriate, accessible way, building confidence and experience so they can step on set ready to work and have fun! We recommend booking one-hour lessons, but we also have 30 minute appointments available if that's preferable for you. We have many young students who choose to sign up for recurring lessons - either every week or every other week - which allows our teachers to build longer term lesson plans for each student with their overall growth in mind :-) You can also book lessons sporadically, depending on what works best for your schedule!
I’m a new actor, do you have any advice for me?
We would love to help you in your acting journey! Here are a few great options for actors who are just starting out:
Our Essentials Series is a great self-directed course that walks you through everything you need to know about becoming an actor! Abbie and Chelsea will walk you through, step-by-step, covering everything from how to get auditions, to how the casting process works, to what kind of headshots are right for you! We also offer a service called a Business Chat, where you will sit down (virtually!) with one of our AFA founders and they can talk to you specifically about what you need help with and where you're at in your acting journey. And of course, acting classes are core to your acting journey! For brand new actors, we recommend starting with One-on-one lessons where one of our fabulous coaches will prepare a one-hour class just for you! You can choose to recur weekly, every other week, or whenever your schedule allows. You can sign up for your first One-on-one lesson on our Classes Page by scrolling down to the One-on-one Lessons section.
