Is your audition tape costing you the role?
What Casting Directors Actually Want Right Now — And How to Give It to Them

Is Your Audition Tape Costing You the Role?
The rules have changed. What worked in 2019 — even in 2021 — is no longer what casting directors in Los Angeles and New York want to see. Slates are different. Title cards are different. How you submit, how you label, whether you include an alternate take — all of it has shifted.
And most actors outside of LA have no idea.
If you’re still taping the way you were taught a few years ago, you may be working against yourself without even knowing it. The good news? It’s fixable — and this weekend, Abbie Cobb is bringing everything she knows straight to you.

Meet Abbie Cobb
Abbie Cobb is a working Los Angeles actress with over 20 years of film and television experience. She started on the Disney Channel as a teenager (Starstruck, Jonas, Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas!), and transitioned into adult television (Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, CSI, True Blood, Shameless, American Horror Story, Longmire, and many more, see her imdb here!), she is currently recurring opposite Ethan Hawke on Hulu’s The Lowdown—and opposite Mila Kunis in a new thriller now shooting in LA! She has shared the screen with countless major film and TV stars — as a series regular, recurring guest, and feature film lead.
She is also the founder of The Actors for Actors Studio, her acting company in Los Angeles, where she coaches actors individually and in classes — helping them book series regular roles, leads in feature films, and recurring television work. She’s not teaching theory. She’s teaching what actually books.

SATURDAY, MARCH 21 | 9am– 1:00 PM
The Self-Tape Masterclass: What’s Working Right Now
Cost: $125 | Open to teens & adults | Kids welcome with a parent present
Location: Heyman Talent Louisville Office
This is a rare, behind-the-curtain look at what’s actually landing on casting directors’ desks — and what’s getting skipped.
You’ll walk away knowing:
• Exactly what casting directors want to see in a self-tape right now in 2026 (straight from their mouths — Abbie has recordings)
• What the biggest pet peeves and “no thank you” moments are — and how to avoid them
• How slates, title cards, alternate takes, and submission labeling have completely changed since COVID
• Why you no longer have to live in LA, New York, or Atlanta to compete — if your home setup is right (and Abbie will show you exactly what that looks like)
• Tips for commercial, voiceover, film, and television auditions
• Real self-tapes that went all the way to producers and booked on network television — so you can see with your own eyes what success actually looks like.
There will also be a chance to get on your feet and try the new techniques if you’d like to — so you leave not just informed, but ready.
You’ll finish the morning with a completely refreshed, up-to-date vision of what casting wants in 2026 — and a clear picture of what to stop doing immediately.

Sample Footage shot by Abbie:
Do you need footage on your Actors Access or Casting Networks profile? This is the opportunity to get some!
Abbie will personally coach, direct, and edit footage for each participant in a private session — using themed scenes she has specifically developed for this purpose. The footage is shot in a way that looks like it was pulled from an indie or short film and you won’t be able to tell it isn’t from something real. Neither will casting!
This is footage you can use immediately to:
• Build or refresh your reel on Actors Access (film & TV) and Casting Networks (commercial)
• Show your agent and manager what you’re capable of
• Signal to casting that you can handle higher-level work
• Look like a working actor — even if you’re just getting started
No memorization required. Abbie provides the copy and material, and will teleprompter it for you so you can focus entirely on performing.
Hour-long slots available. To book your session, click the button below::
